At Manhattan's St. James School, president Brian Rom has added an important dimension to our after-school tutoring program by working with several of our most talented students to stretch both their skills and aspirations. Today, schools with limited resources and programs are typically geared toward children who are falling behind.  Mr. Rom has provided specialized tutoring services to several of our highest performing students and he has opened the eyes of these students and their families as to the available academic possibilities.  He has also been a powerful mentor to some of our struggling students. My daughter, Kristin, an otherwise excellent student is has just completed the 6th grade.  Although she had always completed her math assignments, it was with no real enthusiasm.  But after her first session with Brian Rom, I actually saw a difference; she kept stressing how patient he was when he explained a math problem.  At Mr. Rom's prodding Kristin voluntarily completed approximately 35 pages of extra-curricular math homework over a 2 week vacation period, all on her own.  She is now a regular 90%+ math student.  As a parent, I think he is the best!  Lisa C., Thankful parent.

I have been working with Brian for about three  months.  With his help, my math grades have increased from the high-70's to the low 90's.  And now that I realize I can do this stuff, I am actually beginning to enjoy math!  It's not always been easy for me since he sometimes pushes me to the max, but he seems to always know the right combination of encouragement and drills.  Anthony T.,  7th Grade.

Jonathan has tutored me for in MCAT physics and has proven to be an excellent teacher. I was struggling with basic concepts and trying to memorize formulas and my practice exam scores were suffering.  Jon taught be how to direct my thought processes away from memorizing a large volume of disconnected details and taught me how to approach physics as a bigger picture. From there the details seemed to fall into place.  Most importantly, Jon patiently showed me how to approach a question efficiently. My scores have since greatly improved.
