Michael was
the quintessential underperforming smart kid who was in danger of
academic sanction at his New York City private school.. Over the
summer of 2007 he worked intensively with several
tutors
on several subjects. Now, half-way through his sophomore year
he has blossomed into a straight-A student and exudes a self-confidence
that was unthinkable we signed him up with
.
He is now working with the
college-consulting group to prepare for what we hope will be an Ivy
League acceptance. Tanya B.
At
Manhattan's St. James School,
president Brian Rom has added an important dimension to our after-school
tutoring program by working with several of our most talented students
to stretch both their skills and aspirations. Today, schools with
limited resources and programs are typically geared toward children who
are falling behind. Mr. Rom has provided specialized tutoring services
to several of our highest performing students and he has opened the eyes
of these students and their families as to the available academic
possibilities. He has also been a powerful mentor to some of
our struggling students. Under Brian's tutelage we have seen real
improvement in students who had previously shown little promise or
aptitude for math.

In 2006, my daughter Kristin, then a 6th-grade student at the St. James
school, as a pro bono grade student.
Thanks to the efforts of
dedication
of her mentors at
she
was accepted into the highly competitive
Teak

program in 2007. Now, having successfully completed the 7th-grade
program at Teak she is about to be offered a full high-school
scholarship at one of the country's most exclusive boarding schools.

I have been
working with Jon for about three months. With his help, my math
grades have increased from the high-70's to the low 90's. And now that
I realize I can do this stuff, I am actually beginning to enjoy math!
It's not always been easy for me since he sometimes pushes me to the
max, but he seems to always know the right combination of encouragement
and drills.
Anthony T., 7th Grade.
Karin
is a patient and understanding tutor. She has cultivated in my child a true love
of learning. I see an inspired teacher communicating fundamentals
that have developed that special combination of curiosity and
determination in a child who previously had been unmotivated by school.
She will, with Karin's help, now have an opportunity to achieve
her maximum potential. Henry D., parent.
Jonathan has tutored me for in MCAT physics and has proven to be an
excellent teacher. I was struggling with basic concepts and trying to
memorize formulas and my practice exam scores were suffering.
Jon taught be how to direct my thought processes away from
memorizing a large volume of disconnected details and taught me how to
approach physics as a bigger picture. From there the details seemed to
fall into place.
Most importantly, Jon patiently showed me how to approach a question
efficiently. My scores have since greatly improved. He is extremely
bright and a great teacher and I would highly recommend him to anyone
looking for a good tutor. Sam Z, College student.
Jonathan has tutored me in two semesters of
college physics. I have had tutors before, and Jon is the best bar
none. He is dedicated, enthusiastic, approachable, and made my physics
class conquerable. He taught me a fool-proof, practical approach to
physics that clicked for me right away. I would recommend him for any
student who truly wants to reach the next academic level. Daniel F., College student.
My daughter, Measha, was having
difficulty with her 7th grade math. I was lucky enough to find Penka
through a tutoring service. She is a very consistent, thorough and
punctual tutor. Measha’s work was always neat and clear during her
tutoring sessions, which is something I have tried to get her to do for
a long time. So Measha and I were both very pleased with her
method of teaching. Lynnette B., parent.
